The Studio: My Flint Hills Birds’n Art studio exists mostly in my mind, and in my backyard, where feathery friends gather together mostly in the morning to dine. Then they go off to take on the day and work on their survival.

The studio also extends out to the vast vistas of the Kansas Flint Hills themselves. In staring out for miles something funny happens, time and eternity are sensed in my soul. A vision begins to emerge.

Some visions may find their way to a piece of tupelo or basswood. Slowly the vision begins to work with the wood grain, at other times it may meet resistance from the cross grain. But if things work out, over time the vision takes form.
